Arcane Arts Academy Review

Arcane Arts Academy

Arcane Arts Academy is a lovely fantasy-themed time management game, just a bit buggy, but nothing game-breaking. Very intriguing story and completing the game takes around 9h. Watch all the cutscenes for one of the achievements.

I love the games that SQRT3 makes. The story starts not that special, think of a few well-known fantasy movies/tv-series and mix them together and you got an idea of how this story goes, which isn’t a bad thing at all. SQRT3 games always end on a cliffhanger, and this one is no different in that regard, please can we get a part 2? But also for the two earlier titles you guys make because those stories also ended so exciting.

I must say, Arcane Arts Academy was more buggy than the last 2 games they made which makes me wonder if the different publishers pushed them a little bit too hard for the deadline? I love GameHouse games, but their games can be buggy and they are not well known for fixing their games ( Especially the Dr. Cares series, it still break my heart that they don’t want to delete broken achievements, which would fix the biggest problem in like a minute or so :'( </3 ). In this game, the achievements all unlock, gladly, but at this moment the achievement for finding the cat and doing the sidequests even counts if you do it on levels you already did that. There are also 2 or 3 levels (47, 53, 55?)where it isn’t possible to get 3 stars on the easiest difficulty. When you bump the difficulty up to normal it is possible, but on easy, the required amount of score is just way higher than normal or even the hard difficulty.

I’ve trying to get in contact with them about those bugs but haven’t got a reply back. “Luckz” also made a topic about it on the steam forum. I hope they will fix those bugs because other than that this is a great game.

You will get most of the achievements by just playing the game and at the end buy every upgrade for Erika’s room. Watch every cutscene while playing through the game, don’t skip them the first time you start and finish a level, there is an achievement for watching them all. I only had to make a few potions for the last achievement after achieving the others, but that only took 3 minutes or so.
