Calico will introduce you to a wonderful world. Where all different kinds of people and animals live together in harmony. I expected a little bit more from the cafe part and had to switch my mindset when I kept getting fetch quests after fetch quest, especially early on in the game when you don’t have the option to mount animals because the walking speed is very slow at the beginning. After I was able to mount on animals the game was a lot more enjoyable.
To get all the bad things out of the way.. at launch the game had quite a few bugs, even game-breaking ones. The developers are working hard to solve those and I’m pretty sure that in 1 a 2 weeks after release everything will be sorted out, but it still made me wonder if this game was tested enough before the release. As I see how fast they are able to fix the bugs.. it would have been nice if that process was started before the official release, but the most important part is that they are fixing those bugs very quickly.
Now onto the good parts, this game is lovely. It has a very peaceful and colorful world in which you’ll help out members of the community with their daily struggles. While exploring and helping community members which quests, you’ll also see a lot of animals. 56 of those are listed in the “animals” menu and you’ll have to find them all for an achievement. This might be the most challenging achievement in the game.
About the achievements, most of them you’ll unlock by just playing the game, for a very few you need to do a bit extra, but none of them are grindy. I would highly suggest first complete all the quests that unlock a new area, because at the end of that questline you can unlock a new and very fast transportation item, which makes the other quests so much easier and faster.
I had a lovely time in this game and I hope you’ll be able to enjoy this game as well.
