Delicious: The First Course

This is a remake of the first Delicious game, in which we meet Emily and play through 8 restaurants (80 levels). It shows how strong the gameplay loop is even without the story. There are no missable achievements, and completion takes around 11 hours.

This game is a remake of the original first game starring Emily. This game in the Delicious series has no storyline, just eight different locations for a total of 80 levels and an endless mode for each location. You get customers in your restaurant and have to fulfil their orders promptly. However, you get more points for making combos of the same action. So you might want to pick up the items for multiple orders and then deliver them in a row. Delicious: The First Course offers many upgrades that can be bought with the money you earn from playing levels. You can hire personnel to deliver and clean the tables, for example, but you can also improve the restaurant or the recipes.

I love the GameHouse games and was already missing them when this one came around. It is just so addictive to fulfill the orders and make combos to even get a higher score. I always thought that the stories in most of those Time Management games were a little over the top—great, but unbelievable. Honestly, this game made me realise that I also love the stories. I did miss them a bit, while the core gameplay loop is still addictive and fun. It was nice that Delicious: The First Course has 20 more levels than the other games, which makes up for it.

None of the achievements are missable; most are for completing the game. There are achievements for all the bonus objects, finding the mouse in each level, and having a clean restaurant when the day ends. There are also a few achievements for playing the endless mode, which is unlocked after completing all the levels within one location.

I give Delicious: The First Course 4 out of 5 stars.
