Entropy Survivors Review

Entropy Survivors

An interesting and fun spin on the bullet heaven/survivor genre with partly passive, partly active weapons. The game is quite challenging at the last few levels and I never felt overpowered. No missable achievements and completion takes around 22 hours.

Entropy Survivors is an interesting game where half of your abilities (4) trigger automatically combined with your weapon, and the other half (also 4) trigger when you use your ranged weapon and the ability has no cooldown anymore.

When I first started playing the game, I was a bit overwhelmed with the visual effects as well as all the new abilities, weapons, levels without a clear explanation (which seems like the norm in this genre). I can highly recommend going into the settings to turn down the colors on the visual effects as my first few games were so tiring on my eyes that I could only play for like an hour before it was just too much. and about understanding it all, that comes with time and when you get further into the game, and maybe this review will help out a bit as well.

There is a lot to unlock and upgrade in this game. You have 5 different levels and each of them have 6 different difficulties. You unlock the next difficulty by completing the difficulty before that in the same level, or completing the same difficulty in the previous level, so finishing 1.2 unlocks 1.3 (same level higher difficulty) as well as 2.2 ( around the same difficulty, different level). Only to be able to complete the levels in 5th level you have to completed that same difficulty in all the others.

Another thing to unlock is the different class types (which impact your stats as well as your special ability), different melee and ranged weapon. What I loved about this is that each of them has their own requirement. This gives something to work toward while also unlock new levels or farming resources to boost all those things as well.

There are many different weapon types in the game, if you have found some you can choose to increase or decrease the likelihood of them popping up in future games by spending diamonds on them. You also use those diamonds to power up your abilities. I first worked toward seeing those I liked the most and then used the diamonds to increase their power. I love how the abilities feel different from each other. So you really can choose your favorite playstyle. This comes with the caveat that if you use the same abilities every time it will feel the same very this and takes out the variety the game offers.

Entropy Survivors has no missable achievements and they will just let you work on everything. Unlocking all classes and weapons, completing all the levels and stuff like that. There are 2 multiplayer achievements. One is for completing a level in multiplayer and the other for winning the short match after completing a level. Those can be done with public lobbies but can also be boosted by friends.

I give Entropy Survivors 3.5 out of 5 stars.
