Headlands is a fun hack and slash action game. I found the game quite addictive because the levels are short but there are secrets hidden all over them. the shortness of the levels helps toward the feeling of making progress. I didn’t get bored while playing this game. The game overall isn’t that long, probably about 4h or so if you don’t go for completion, if you go for all the achievements it should take around 6h. In my book, this is a good thing. I prefer games that don’t overstay their welcome.

What I did miss is a separate option for how loud the music and the SFX are. At this moment it doesn’t have sliders and you can just choose if you want both, SFX or no music. the developer I spoke with would look into this if this is still an option, but it might be harder to implement it by now as the game is fully developed. I also had in one area a lot of lag, I have let them know that as well and they will look into that. Not sure if it is the game in combination with my pc, or if more people have this. My experience with the developers is that they are very responsive and trust them with fixing the small issues that I experienced.

The achievements in Headland are easy to complete. It has 2 difficulty options and you can play on the easiest difficulty. I would highly recommend not spending more gold than is needed because in the end, you’ll have to grind a little bit for gold already to be able to buy all the decoration items. So only upgrade one level to the max level, and don’t use the traders in one of the last levels for wood/stone, those are way easier to farm than the gold that is required for the trade.

With that warning out of the way, you can just play through the game and enjoy it without worrying about the achievements. You can mop up the missing ones later on and you’ll already have unlocked a bunch by just beating the game. There are achievements for finding all the secrets in every level, but you can see how many secrets you found in each level during level selection, so this is also something you don’t have to worry about.
