House flipper is an amazing game in which you will fix and improve all sorts of things in and around the house. You start as a handyman and do jobs for others, but later on, when you have enough money you can buy houses, renovate them and then sell them for a much higher price.

At this moment the game has 3 big DLC’s which all are needed to unlock all the achievements. Below I’ll list the total amount this will take, and then split up my review into all the different parts.

Approximate amount of time to 100%: 30h
Estimated achievement difficulty: 3/10
Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1, you can buy the houses you worked on earlier on, that way there are no missable achievements.
Is there a good guide available: There is an amazing guide here , it is in English and German.
Multiplayer achievements: No
Missable achievements: No
Grinding Achievements: A little bit, selling 50 houses. However to speed the process up you don’t have to do anything in the house to sell it and to speed up the buyers’ process hold SPACE.
DLC-Only achievements: Yes, all big DLC packs have achievements
Time-gated achievements: No
RNG-achievements: No
Does difficulty affect achievements: No
Unobtainable/glitched achievements: No

I loved loved loved this game. As a child, my main hobby was drawing houses to decorate them, like I was a stylist. This is even more fun and for the most part, the chores like cleaning and painting are relaxing. Upgrading cleaning makes it so much easier. The achievements were also fun to complete and not hard, especially not with the guide linked above.

House Flipper – Garden DLC

The following stats are only for this DLC

Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3.4h
Estimated achievement difficulty: 2/10

Missable achievements: No
Grinding Achievements: No
Time-gated achievements: No

Does difficulty affect achievements: No

This DLC adds gardening to this already amazing game. I can see how it makes the achievements of the base game a bit easy because with the garden competition you can make the price of your house a bit higher. With the guide, I’ve linked above, it is very easy to 100% this DLC. It took me a while to find a mole for that achievement, that seems a bit luck-based. All the other achievements are very doable.

I enjoyed this DLC a lot, it was short for completion, but it was nice to get back into this fun game. I only have one small problem with this DLC and that is that I couldn’t find a keyboard button to change the size of surfaces (sand/gravel). My mouse doesn’t have a scroll wheel, which is used to change the size.

House Flipper – HGTV DLC

Steam

The following stats are only for this DLC

Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3.5h-5h
Estimated achievement difficulty: 2/10
Multiplayer achievements: No
Missable achievements: No
Grinding Achievements: No
Time-gated achievements: No
RNG-achievements: No
Does difficulty affect achievements: No
Unobtainable/glitched achievements: No

This DLC adds some amazing beach houses. There are 10 houses which you can fix. You’ll not use your budget, but a budget set by the owners of the house. In every house, there are also at least 2 choices of what to do with a room. With the guide, I’ve linked above, it is very easy to 100% this DLC. To make it a bit shorter: first choose all the options of the man in a few houses, when you get his achievement, then choose the choices the woman wants in the rest of the houses.

I enjoyed this DLC a lot, it was short for completion, but it was nice to get back into this fun game again for the third time. This game is so much fun and they add a lot in both DLC’s. It also felt like they have smoothened some things to make this game even more fun. I especially liked that you have now a tab on your tablet with items you need for this project, instead of having to look them up in the store yourself.

House Flipper – Luxury DLC

Steam

Approximate amount of time to 100%: 7h+

Unobtainable/glitched achievements: No

In this DLC you’ll get a whole lot of new “luxury” furniture and 12 very big houses. It goes further where the last DLC stopped. You get a story from the owner of the house, why and what he wants to improve. It is fully voiced but you can skip this part if you are not interested. Then you’ll start to work on the house. I’ll use all the tools from the previous expansions. You can fix the gardens but the story mission only require you to work on the house itself. You have to break and build a lot of walls and clean up loads and loads of trash. In those story missions, you get “mood boards” and a choice between a lot of items so you can do what you think looks the best. What is totally new in this expansion is that you have to renovate old items. You have to sandpaper them and then put some paint on them in a color you can choose from like 10 different options.

I did enjoy this new expansion a lot. I had to restart the game from scratch since I had lost my old save file but it only took me 11h to get all the new achievements. I still love this game so much and I’m glad we got a new DLC to get even more items, furniture, and even wallpaper. You can go crazy with the base game and all 3 DLC when you’re flipping your own houses instead of playing the story missions. I can’t wait for the next DLC, what should be the Pets DLC as far as I can see on the Steam Store page.
