Instants is a cute and casual puzzle game in which you sort the order of the photos of a specific event, and then can decorate your scrapbook. The decoration part is optional, and it has no missable achievements. Completion takes 1,5h+

In Instants, you just started your new hobby of making scrapbooks. Family members and friends will write you a letter asking you to create a scrapbook for them. Then you receive an empty scrapbook and a bunch of pictures. You start by determining the order of the photos. For this part, you have a tool that will show you if the order is correct, if stuff is missing between photos, or if the order is off. Typically, the clues for those are shown once every few photos, but you can change the settings to always show them to you to help you if you’re struggling with finding the correct order.

Finding the right order of photos is done by looking at the pictures and sometimes having a bit of context written on the background. The details of the pictures are essential: the different clothing people wear, the various times of day, and other activities. The pictures have so many details to help you determine the correct order.

After finding the correct order, you can complete a chapter or decorate the album. After each chapter, you get more decoration items. You can return to earlier scrapbooks and use the new unlocked decoration items. It is also possible to start a new album with a different picture order. There are 17 scrapbooks in total.

The completion time for a game like this is hard to predict, as it all comes down to how much you’re enjoying decorating the scrapbooks and how long you take on that. The puzzles themselves take around 1,5h without decoration time, while still taking the time to look at the pictures and finding the proper order. Instants has many achievements, one for every chapter, one for unlocking all items in the catalog, like the different foods, drinks, and camera items. There is also an achievement for switching all three basic items in those categories to different ones. And don’t forget to eat and drink while making the scrapbooks. For the achievement “Redesigning History” you have to go to the chapter select and click the + at the top right to make a new album.
