Microtopia Review

Microtopia

Microtopia is a great automation, resource management, and base-building game! What I enjoy a lot is that it is different from building a factory. In some ways, it is the same: You want to collect resources, get/make more workers, and collect more and make more. However, having robotic insects makes it feel different.

Steam

I love how people get their insect colonies so organized and efficiently. However, I struggle with that. This is a me problem, and I knew this before jumping into the game, but games made by Dutch developers always feel extra special as I’m from The Netherlands myself.

Microtopia has all the lovely tools you want in an automation game. After a while, a grid base will be available to make it even more organized. There are multiple locations, each with its own colonies, and there is a big great upgrade tree to unlock more features and make your workers stronger/faster.

I only unlocked a few achievements, but as far as I can tell are, none of the achievements are missable. None of them seems to be luck-based, either. Both of those make it a great achievement list, as you don’t have to look out for the achievements but will unlock them over time.
