Monster Meals is a game like Overcooked and Out of Space. You (and it is possible to play it locally co-op with another player) run a pop-up restaurant where you catch fresh rats/lizards and other insects/animals to chop them up and cook them. Customers will come to your restaurant and take a spot. You have to go to them to take their order, cook it, and serve it. They can be quite impatient, and if you don’t help them within the time limit, they will get very angry and try to eat you. Gladly, they are only angry for a short time, and you can pass them by dashing through them. However, it will make serving the other customers more challenging for the time they run around enraged.
The game has 4 worlds, with each 5 levels, so a total of 20 levels. In the first level, you will just catch things and chop them up; later on, you also have to cook the ingredients and catch birds from the air or fish from an underground cave. Also, the recipes themselves become a bit more complex. After finishing the game, it will be possible to get even more stars in levels, and you automatically get those stars if your high score is already high enough for more stars.
None of the achievements are missable, and you’ll unlock most of them by just playing the game. The most challenging achievements will be the ones for getting 3 stars at every level. This might be very easy when playing together with someone else, but they are doable in single-player as well. The trick for me in later levels was to get one customer angry from the start so you have a table less, preferably the table that takes the longest to get to. So, for example, in a level with 5 tables but 2 exits of your kitchen, I took the orders for the first 2 tables and cooked them, and quickly got the orders for tables 4 and 5 before table 3 got angry. Then, just cook those and maybe try to serve them while customer 3 is angry and running around. After about 20 seconds or so, they will disappear, and the broken table will give you fewer customers, but that is better manageable in single-player mode. It took me around 4 hours to complete the game, and there were a few later levels I struggled with the first few times I played them.
I give Monster Meals 4 out of 5 stars.
