Necroboy

Necroboy is a fun minion puzzle game that is a bit rough around the edges. Can use a few more QoL features. None of the achievements are missable and completion takes around 6h, it has a few challenging levels.

Necroboy is a very enjoyable puzzle game with minions. If you follow my reviews for a while you know that I love games in which you control minions to do your work. I can’t explain why I love it, but I just do. I had a lot of fun with Necroboy, but it is a bit rough around the edges.

In Necroboy you only solve puzzles with the minions, not attacking. This is fine in my book, that way you don’t see how the minions die in a sad way like in Pikmin for example. The puzzles start out quite easy but ramp up during the game… and then there are those “strange levels”(you can find the entrances to those levels at the beginning of levels 9, 18, and 26). Those levels are on a totally different planet and I wasn’t able to solve those puzzles, they just went above my head.

I hope that the game will get some extra quality-of-life features like being able to select one minion, now it is a bit annoying that if you want one you have to put them all to “sleep” (Is it really sleep?) and then try to only wake up one. That is one of the more challenging aspects of the game that seems not needed and can become a bit frustrating later on.

None of the achievements are missable. Almost all of them you’ll just get by playing through the game. the most challenging ones are those for completing the strange levels, and with that, the achievement for the skins as you’ll find skins in those levels. I think that unlocking them all may take around 6h if you are good at solving this kind of puzzles or when using a guide, otherwise, it may take a little bit longer.

I had a lot of fun with Necroboy: Path to Evilship. I hope someone can solve those “Strange” levels so I can go back into this game and get the last few achievements I’m missing.
