Princess Farmer Review

Princess Farmer

Princess Farmer is such a lovely puzzle/visual novel game. It has no missable achievements but the achievements are very grindy. Beating the story takes ~10h, but 100% the game will take another 15h.

Princess Farmer is an awesome visual novel combined with a match 3 puzzle game. I did enjoy the story a lot and all the bunny characters are so cute. Funny but embarrassing thing, one of the characters calls you PF and it took me a bit to understand she meant me and that it stood for “Princess Farmer”.

I think the amount of visual novel versus puzzle game is kinda 50/50. you have the option to skip a lot of the visual novel parts if you want, but I would encourage you to at least talk with everybody in your first playthrough. Making friends will give you rewards at the end of each chapter.

Amount the puzzle game the developers have thought about it a lot. It is a match 3, but it has some special tricks and thoughts behind it. I can sum them up, but I think Bee did a much better job summing it up herself in this Twitter thread:

A cool thing about this puzzle part of Princess Farmer is that you don’t have to be good at it to get through the story of the achievements. There is no real punishment, you only get less money for not having a high score.

For achievement hunters, this game has a downside. Most of the achievements are easy and you’ll unlock just by playing through the story, which is about 10h long. A few have to do with something in a specific level, or to hold a cat long enough and stay in a store to enjoy the music. The downside is that there are a few grindy ones. For me, those were the one to survive 50 storms (After completing my counter for that one was on 3, because most of the time I beat the boss too quickly.) and especially the achievement for buying 40 Hare Dye. Those will get very expensive and you might have to run through chapter 7 a lot (where I think you can make the most money because of the Gaia reward of 10k at the end). This was even worse but after talking with the devs and calculating the time I would need to complete that achievement, they have lowered the prices for the Hare Dye, but it will still take you some hours. I would highly suggest that if you want to go for completion, do this part while watching a movie or something like that.

Princess Bunny is an amazing game, where I did enjoy the story and loved the puzzles, but maybe don’t go for completion on this one ;).
