That I give this game a positive review might be surprising to some, as yesterday I wrote on Twitter how frustrated I was with this game, after losing my save file 2 times, a crash, and having the game freeze on me. I can’t deny that for me personally, that made me enjoy the game less than when I wouldn’t have encountered those game-breaking bugs and it sucks the game has such huge bugs. I didn’t expect to go back after losing my save file a second time, as I was just done and lost all hope to be able to finish the game without losing my save file a third time. After a good night of sleep and some relaxing, I started googling, as this game was really lovely and I would love to be able to unlock all the achievements, and on the internet I found the solution. Don’t save photos, aka at them to your favorites, please don’t do it! I know it is an achievement, which makes it even more horrible, but save that achievement to be your last achievement, when you don’t mind losing your save file! Saving photos makes the game slow, causing crashes and even making your save file unplayable, or in my case just making the savefile disappear out of nowhere. I have sent this info to the developer Sundae Month through Twitter DMs so hopefully they can do something to fix this, but in the meantime Don’t use the option to save photos!
With this frustrating part out of the way.. you might be wondering why I did enjoy the game at all. You will find so many cute doggies in this game and your job is to photograph them. Some doggies even wear hats, glasses or shoes. They also take part in cute activities, like having a picnic, riding bikes, or playing on a playground. You can even push swings with doggies on them. You get some mission to take photos of dogs doing something specific or using different lenses or photo rolls to alternate the photos you’re making. You unlock other daytimes on the same location and new location by completing those challenges. This game is just so damn cute.
Most of the achievements in this game are very straightforward, but the Xbox version of Pupperazzi has 2 missable achievements (I don’t think that the Steam version has any missable achievements, that version has fewer achievements). The first one is “Self Love” in which you have to complete 20 missions in selfie mode. After you unlock selfie mode, just keep completing missions in this mode until you unlock this achievement. Watch out that there is an achievement with a very similar achievement name (Self Care) for taking 20 photos in selfie mode, but that one isn’t missable. The other missable achievement is “Fully Upgraded”, for this achievement you have to buy all the camera and location upgrades through the shop on the map or the vendor machines in levels. The easiest way to do this is after you unlock the location “muttropolis”, stop focussing on the mission, but first find all bones in that level and leave to reset them and find more bones until you have unlocked this achievement. I think I restarted this like 6 times or so, but did my best to find the bones in earlier levels as well.
For the other achievements, take pictures of sleeping dogs, and pet dogs to let them stick their tongue out and sweep with their tail before you take a picture. And most of all, keep that damn achievement to save photos to your favorite as the last achievement to make the risk of the game becoming buggy/unplayable as low as possible.
This review for Pupperazzi was written on 29 Augustus 2022, based on the current Xbox version of the game which has 23 achievements at the time of writing this review. This information can be outdated, for example, when the developer adds or removes achievements or releases (new) DLC.
