In Retail Company Simulator you run a clothing store. From buying the items for your shop, to hanging them, and helping customers, very picky customers, but they like to buy a lot of the same item, so it isn’t the worst how picky they are :P. With picky I mean that if something is not in your store (because it is out of stock, or they bought they are carrying the whole stock and you didn’t had time to hang up new stock) they will immediately start to complain. So keep your racks full and always have stock in the back ready to put in the store.

I love the Shop Keeper genre, and this is no exception. It is so cool to design your own clothing store, and it looks so cool. It is extra funny how the dirt in this game is gold, making it feel less gross. The business site of Retail Company Simulator feels a bit more tidy than in most shopping games. Getting a “license” to buy specific clothing costs a lot of money, and each level there unlocks more and more. At first, you might want to buy the license for everything, but soon you will realise you won’t make enough money to have them all and start to have to make choices.

One of the things I disliked a bit is how the prices change daily, and your customers don’t want to overpay, so they start complaining if the item is now at a higher price than the daily price. This felt a bit out of place for a clothing store. Gladly, the retail company Simulator has a lot of nice quality of life features, one of which is that you can change the price through the computer. You can even sort them on prices that don’t match the recommended price, and then it is a simple click for every item to change the price. On this same computer, you have multiple programs to check the stock in the store itself and in the back. So you can easily restock the clothing that is out of stock or almost out of stock.

Another thing that always feels rewarding in this type of game is that you can hire staff. The first staff member you can hire is a cashier, which is very nice, as that was one of my least favorite tasks. Before I hired a cashier, I used only round dollar prices not to have to deal with too many coins in the cash register. After I got a cashier, I started to use the daily recommended prices as I wasn’t the one anymore dealing with the extra coins for prices ending with cents.

The second person you can hire is a stacking boy, who helps out a lot when the store is bigger and has more clothes hanging around. It will be a while before you can hire a second stacking boy, which felt like just a bit too big of a gap. At a certain point, my stocking boy was not able to keep up anymore, which resulted in me waiting to start a new day until the store was fully stocked again. The last person you can hire is a cleaner, so you no longer have to scrub the dirt off the floor.

I also love how there were 1 or 2 webshop orders each day, which bought a lot of the same products. I just ordered new boxes for them and then ran with those to the post office on the other side of the street. Another quality-of-life feature Retail Company Simulator has is that you can have multiple boxes on you at the same time. This is a very nice feature, so you don’t have to keep running around!

Achievement-wise, Retail Company Simulator has no missable, and everything will unlock with time. It took me around 15 hours to unlock everything. However, it feels like the grind to levels 20 and 25 is quite long. I saved a lot of money at the end, around level 23, manually saved the game (in case I didn’t have enough money to reach level 25), and then bought a bunch of licenses, as those give a lot of experience points.

I give Retail Company Simulator 4 out of 5 stars.
