Sparklite Review

Sparklite

Sparklite is an enjoyable action roguelite with a challenging end boss. No missable achievements and it takes around 12h to complete. I would suggest going for all the other achievs before killing the last boss.

Sparklite is a very enjoyable action roguelite. You play as Ada who’s airship goes down at the beginning of the game because some weird things are going on on earth. As soon as you land you’ll see that all the animals and plants became hostile and will start attacking you. It is your job to fight some henchman of Baron in an attempt to stop Baron himself.

The game has 5 biome and you’ll unlock one by one after defeating a boss and unlocking a new ability. The monsters in new biomes might act kinda the same but are harder and have more health. During your journey, you’ll find upgrades to make your attacks stronger, having more health, more defense, getting maps, and other things like that. You can only equip a certain amount which can make for tough choices. When you die you’ll keep your unlocked blueprints, upgrades you found and sparklite, the main source for upgrading the base camp and with which you can buy more upgrades.

The achievements in Sparklite are very straight forward and you’ll unlock most of them by just playing through the game. None of them are missable. I had a hard time with the last boss and spend quite some time on tries to finally kill him. Looking back I wish I would just have finished achievements like “Welcome Aboard!” because that gave me so much Sparklite which would give me the ability to buy more upgrades in the camp and make that last fight a bit easier. Getting as many maps as possible will help you with this achievement. Don’t be afraid to restart a run if you don’t see Monty’s location while hunting for this achievement, restarting so you have it on your map is much faster than aimless wandering around to try and find it.
